Hi, I'm Jeff Curtin, the owner and instructor at Curtin Trumpet Academy.

Music is the art of thinking with sound - private lessons help you think like a pro.
In my career, I've been fortunate enough to play in a variety of musical settings--from orchestras and brass quintets, to big bands and wind ensembles. I've even been able to play as a soloist on national TV. In all of my experiences I've been able to perform with some wonderful professional musicians and see, firsthand, what an important part music plays in so many people's lives.
These days I'm especially passionate about helping younger players grow. Whether they're just getting started, or already playing in honor bands, I want to help students reach the next level and discover what they are really capable of on their instrument.

One thing I've learned over the years is that many students don't realize just how good they can be--often because they have never had the chance to work one-on-one with a mentor who can guide them (kind of like Luke Skywalker's jedi training with Obi Won Kenobi). Trumpet is best learned in a one-on-one setting, where students can really hear how they should sound, and then apply that new found concept of sound to build all of the other skills needed on the trumpet.

This kind of learning environment gives students the freedom to make mistakes, try new things, and really grow as musicians. But it's not just about technique--it's about finding your sound, building confidence and being challenged to keep improving. And the cool thing about that is, once students learn the ability to work through obstacles, and overcome adversity they carry that resilience into every area of life.

My private trumpet studio is in Olathe, Kansas and most of my trumpet students are from the Johnson County area, but we do have some that travel from a bit further away and I even do online trumpet lessons, as well. My students sound great, they love trumpet lessons, and they are all making great progress.
